Wine, Appetizers & Fashion

The décor was stunning in black and white, gold and wisteria, natural blossoms and twinkling lights. The evening had a solemn overtone as the event supported the education and awareness of domestic violence. The speakers: Lisa Lehmann from Carman Wellness Connections and Ange Braun from Genesis House spoke of the need for this much too prevalent issue to be brought forward into mainstream discussions.

The event remained a very social and fun evening highlighted by a Fashion Show which was organized by Communities in Bloom. Local retailers and models displayed both practical and fun apparel narrated by the always delightful Judy McGregor.

Appetizers and beverages were plentiful, and conversations echoed throughout the large room at Active Living Center. Auctions and Raffles supported the successful fund-raising effort of Boyne River Keepers and Communities in Bloom.

Funds raised are directed towards the establishment of a Domestic Violence Education and Awareness Endowment Fund through Carman Area Foundation and towards the completion of the Friends and Family Playground in north Carman.

We wish to thank our volunteers for the tremendous assistance in staging this event.
